Natural Gas is Abundant

A 2009 U.S. Department of Energy study stated the United States has a nearly 100 year supply of natural gas.
With new technology and the discovery of many shale gas reservoirs, the United States' natural gas reserves are on the rise.  Over the past several years, our natural gas reserves have increased by 35%.  This is mainly driven by the numerous shale gas reservoirs currently being explored.  The DOE prepared a report on shale gas and its development in the U.S.  Click here to read their report:
Modern Shale Gas Development in the United States: A Primer.  In June of 2009, the Potential Gas Committee also reported an unprecedented increase in U.S. natural gas resources.

The United States is a leading consumer of natural gas, accounting for 20-25% of total worldwide consumption.  85% of the natural gas we consume comes from the U.S. and about 12% comes from Canada.  That means roughly 97% of the natural gas we consume comes from North America.   As our nation works towards energy independence and our consumption of energy resources continues to grow, America's natural gas will play an important role in meeting those demands.

An abundant, domestic supply of Natural Gas makes it a long-term, clean solution for power generation, home heating, industrial use, and vehicle fuel
